Bang Kachao Island
If you are looking for a daytrip in a very secluded and peaceful place where you can enjoy the spectacular landscapes and escape reality for a bit, this is for you! Bang Kachao is an Island that was artificially formed by a bend in the Chao Phraya River. It is located in the South of Bangkok in the district of Samut Prakan in Phra Pradaeng. Locals in this island live a routine that is completely different than that of the rest of Bangkok and they are known to have a-more countryside-Thai style. You will not be able to spot any cars along the trails because they are only made for scooters and bicycles.
How to get to Bang Krachao
It can be a bit hard to get to this island due to traffic jam, but it will definitely be worth it! Use the second Exit at Khlong Toei metro station to go to Klong Toey piervia and then take a taxi or a scooter. It will be even better to get in a tuk-tuk if you found any. You will then find boats at Klong Toey Pier or Tha Pa-Sri pier, take one to go to the other side of the river. The best thing is that it is very cheap, only for 10 baht, it can be even for free sometimes! The boat will drop you off at Pae Jeob Bike Hire where you can rent bikes, the day costs around 80 Baht and you will also be given a map and water bottles to keep you hydrated! After you rent the bike, get ready to get lost and explore this magical and breath-taking island! Another way to get to the island is by starting your excursion from the southern part. You can take the BTS to Bang NA station and then take a ferry to cross the river. The ferry will drop you off near many tourist attractions but a bit far from the main park which is the botanical garden. You will also be able to find many bikes to rent where the ferry dropped you off.
